Learn, Grow, Thrive
It was an honor to sit down with Malissa Connors on the Mirror Mirror on the Mic podcast to discuss The Life Skills Nobody Taught Us. We talked about the practical skills that help people build lives worth living, from managing intense emotions and improving relationships to building resilience and responding more effectively when life gets hard, as it inevitably will.
Many of us were never taught the skills we need to navigate all that life throws at us at any given moment. DBT helps fill in the gaps. Whether these skills were never taught, weren’t consistently modeled, or we simply didn’t have the opportunity to learn them, the good news is that they can be learned and old patterns can be replaced.
One of the things I love most about DBT is that these are skills anyone can learn. Whether you are a clinician, educator, parent, leader, or someone interested in personal growth, it’s never too late to learn new ways of navigating life’s challenges.
As a DBT clinician, one of the greatest rewards is watching clients discover that they are capable of learning new ways of coping. We aren’t born knowing these skills, and no one should have to figure them out alone.
Thank you, Malissa, for creating a space to have these important conversations. I hope you’ll give the episode a listen!
